4 Random thoughts of a straight forward trainer
Random Thought #1: There is no such thing as making a muscle longer and leaner.
There have been many industries that have been pushing the “longer and leaner” myth.
Its is impossible to make your muscles longer and leaner. You cant change your genetics. You can lose fat and give your body the appearance of being longer and leaner but not make your muscles longer and leaner.
Many pilates and Yoga classes are filled with professional dancers and genetically lean people.
Weights don’t make you bulky. Eating more calories than you are burning does.
Its impossible for women to look like a bodybuilder unless they are training 3 to 5 hours a day and taking performance enhancing drugs.
So if you hear a friend say, “My trainer bulked me up and they’re training just 3 hours a week and not taking steroids, they are just eating too much. Its that simple.
There are 168 hours in a week, and you can’t get bulkier training just 3 hours a week.
Females do not have the testosterone storage that guys do so its virtually impossible for them to get huge if they are lifting weights, doing cardio, and eating balanced meals and snacks throughout the day that are not too high in calories for your body weight.

Random Thought #2: I’m tired of hearing “Your workouts are too intense or there’s too many girls in here, it’s probably not intense.”
I’ve had many people come to our workouts expecting to get a 24 hour fitness aerobics class or a kumbaya feel good class.
On the same token, I have people coming here thinking that its going to be a crazy intense break your spirit type of workout, but its not like that either.
Everyday is not hot and everyday is not cold. Its not sunny everyday and its not raining everyday, therefore, the workout intensities must constantly change. Not always be the same.
It is never always easy because that does not reflect life. Even ants and birds have to work hard to get their food, so why not us?
It is never always hard because that does not reflect life either. Even birds and dogs kick back and enjoy the day once in a while. So why not us?
Random Thought #3: Walking with your arms bent at 90 degrees is not speed walking!
Some people think: “If I walk with my arms bent 90 degrees its speed walking, and if my arms are straight, its regular walking.
Stop lying to yourself. Its all walking. If you can run for 30 seconds and walk for 3 minutes, that’s way better than just walking.
Or if you refuse on running, by a weight vest and walk with it or go walk some hills or go hiking.
But if you’re just walking on a flat surface, for weeks and months at a time, your body will get used to what you are doing and not yield any change.
Random thought #4: Your perception determines your view of a workout
We have people that watch our videos or walk by our workouts and say that’s way too intense, I will never do that.
Well think again.
Below are 3 examples of movements people see us do and how they can perceive them.
1.Pulling Ropes-
Fear based thinking: Pulling ropes is a hardcore workout.
Real life thinking: Pulling loved ones out of the water at Hurricane Katrina was a necessity and I’d like to be dependable.
2.Crawling-
Fear based thinking: Crawling on the ground when you’re an adult is a hardcore workout.
Real life thinking: Crawling on the ground when you were 2 years old was a necessity so why is it so hardcore now?
3.Sprinting-
Fear based thinking: Sprinting is a hardcore workout and only for athletes.
Real life thinking: Sprinting to rescue a child headed to the street is a necessity and life does not care if you’re an athlete or not.
